I have started my Law Firm, over 10 years ago and have succeeded in creating an established and profitable Law Firm. These are the steps you need to do the same.
1. Have or gain experience-
Volunteer at Public agencies or take legal clinics in law school the practical world of being an attorney is different than what is learned in Law School.
2. Join the local and state Bar Associations
Many local bar associations will refer cases to you on a monthly basis, and this is a good way to meet other attorneys in your area.
3. Join a legal plan
Become a member of a Legal Plan, such as pre paid legal, Hyatt legal plans, ARAG, AFL-CIO etc. These legal plans refer cases to attorneys weekly if not daily.
4. Use a Virtual Office
In todays market an attorney does not need to spend a significant amount of money to open a Law Firm, in most cities you can rent a space only when you meet a client, a company such as REGUS has thousands of locations world wide. These virtual offices also have answering services and mail forwarding.
5. Purchase Software
Being an attorney, you will spend much time drafting legal paperwork, however their are software that can save you time and money the best product out their is the DRAFTING LIBRARIES where all legal forms for your state are available, and they will pay for itself.
6. Market yourself
This is the hardest part of starting a Law Firm, you will need to attract business, the best way is to advertise in a local paper, start a website and use adwords to attract business, advertise on craigslist, and mail letters or hand out flyers.
7. Have 6 months of rent available
Have money to support yourself, it will take time, however once established you will succeed.
